TL;DR
Chemical Process Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing): Supporting and improving monomer production processes at the Washington Works site with an accent on process performance, equipment reliability, process safety, and capital projects. Focus on troubleshooting manufacturing issues, developing process improvements, maintaining P&IDs, and supporting commissioning, startups, shutdowns, testing, and equipment restoration.

Location: Washington Works site, Parkersburg, West Virginia, United States; onsite manufacturing role.

Annual pay range: $85,801–$134,064 USD. Annual bonus target: 6%.

What you will do

  • Monitor monomer production processes and troubleshoot manufacturing performance issues.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve reliability, capacity, efficiency, uptime, and process safety.
  • Implement process changes involving operating conditions, piping, valves, controls, and procedures.
  • Support process engineering projects, equipment installations, plant upgrades, and capital-project execution.
  • Maintain Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, block flow diagrams, and other process documentation.
  • Support field assessments, audits, process experiments, commissioning, startups, shutdowns, turnarounds, and equipment restoration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • At least 6 months of chemical engineering-related experience, including qualifying co-op or internship experience.
  • Experience or exposure to chemical processing, process troubleshooting, and structured problem-solving in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to workplace and process safety.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Immigration sponsorship, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, TN, or other non-immigrant status, is not available.

Nice to have

  • 1–5 years of professional chemical engineering experience in industrial manufacturing, chemical processing, petrochemical, refining, or a similar environment.
  • Hands-on exposure to reaction vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, piping systems, instrumentation, control valves, and process-control systems.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management, Process Hazard Analysis, and Management of Change.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and Aspen Plus or similar process-simulation tools.
  • Exposure to process improvement, reliability programs, procedure development, or capital-project execution.
