Senior Process Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, scale-up, implementation, and optimization of chemical manufacturing processes from laboratory scale through pilot plant and commercial production.
• Develop and review process engineering documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, utility calculations, control narratives, and operating envelopes.
• Provide technical leadership for greenfield and brownfield facilities, process skids, reaction, mixing, filtration, transfer, storage, piping, instrumentation, and utility systems.
• Support capital projects through design reviews, vendor selection, contractor coordination, installation, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and startup.
• Design and analyze pilot plant trials, experimental plans, statistical studies, process validations, and process performance monitoring.
• Collaborate with R&D, Operations, Quality, EH&S, Maintenance, Automation, Supply Chain, and external vendors on technology transfer, process safety, automation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 7–10 years of experience in chemical process development, scale-up, or manufacturing.
• Experience with process calculations covering mass and energy balances, heat transfer, fluid flow, mixing, reaction engineering, equipment sizing, pressure drop, utilities, and scale-up.
• Strong experience developing and interpreting P&IDs, along with engineering documentation, equipment specifications, control narratives, operating procedures, commissioning plans, and technical reports.
• Working knowledge of API, ASME, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and process safety management principles.
• Advanced analytical, statistical, experimental design, communication, and problem-solving skills, including proficiency with tools such as Minitab or equivalent platforms.

Nice to have

• Experience designing, building, commissioning, or supporting chemical manufacturing facilities and capital projects.
• Experience with specialty chemicals, electronic chemicals, advanced materials, batch processing, reaction systems, or complex formulated products.
• Professional Engineer license or willingness to pursue one.
• Experience with Excel, JMP, Python, SQL, Tableau, or equivalent data-analysis tools.
