Outside Auto Appraiser (Auto Claims)

Location: 100% remote, serving the Wichita, Kansas area; must reside in or be willing to relocate at personal expense to the assigned territory. The role includes mobile work, vehicle inspections, local travel, and potential catastrophe deployments to other states.

Annual base salary: $63,800–$105,400, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Inspect vehicles and equipment and assess basic to moderate physical damage claims.
• Prepare accurate damage appraisals, actual cash value estimates, and replacement value assessments using approved estimating and evaluation software.
• Establish claim values, negotiate settlements with customers and repair facilities, and authorize applicable payments.
• Review coverage, policy conditions, exclusions, endorsements, reserves, and recovery opportunities throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Partner with claim professionals and provide technical guidance on damage assessment and repair management.
• Participate in the Catastrophe Response Program, including deployments of at least 16 days and unscheduled travel with minimal notice.

Requirements

• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Wichita, Kansas territory at personal expense.
• High school diploma or GED and at least one year of auto appraisal experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong knowledge of auto repair, repair techniques, vehicle terminology, and construction.
• Strong mathematical, negotiation, communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required state appraiser and claim-handling licenses, generally within three months of starting, and complete continuing education.

Nice to have

• Associate's, bachelor's, or technical school degree.
• Two years of auto appraisal experience, preferably with an insurance carrier.
• Knowledge of claims appraisal systems, claim operations, Windows, Excel, and Word.
