Claims Appraiser - Auto Estimatics

Location: Richmond, Virginia, United States; candidates must reside within a commutable distance of the assigned territory. Remote-field work combines home-based virtual estimates with in-person appointments at body shops and customer locations. Work may extend beyond the assigned territory, with flexible shifts, overtime, and irregular hours as business needs require.

Salary: $63,089.65–$82,000 annually, plus potential incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Collect vehicle information from repair shops and customers and complete initial and supplemental estimates using photos or in-person inspections.
• Use automated estimating systems to prepare repair estimates and evaluate vehicle damage, photo documentation, bid content, and causation issues.
• Apply market value knowledge and technical judgment to assess reparability and provide repair guidance.
• Support claim handlers with vehicle repair expertise and communicate with customers and repair shops by phone.
• Guide insureds through the claims process and address inquiries or emotionally charged concerns professionally.

Requirements

• Experience in auto collision repair, auto damage estimating, or auto insurance appraisal.
• Excellent customer service, critical thinking, decision-making, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask across technical platforms and demonstrate accountability and resourcefulness.
• Physical agility for stooping, bending, and lifting while evaluating vehicle damage.
• Valid driver’s license and residence within a commutable distance of the Richmond territory.
• Successful completion of required training, applicable proficiency and licensing exams, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and possible pre-employment assessments.

Nice to have

• Motor Vehicle Physical Damage Appraiser License.
• CCC One or Mitchell knowledge.
• I-CAR Platinum Certification.
