Claim Specialist - Direct Repair Unit (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States; Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm ET. Occasional travel for meetings, collaboration, team-building activities, repair facility visits, inspections, or work outside the assigned territory may be required.

Salary: $70,000-$90,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual company bonus incentive.

What you will do

• Review assigned claims, contact insured parties and other affected individuals, and establish expectations for the claim process.
• Investigate claim facts, analyze coverage, applicable limits and exclusions, state law, liability, and recovery potential.
• Inspect vehicle damage, prepare or evaluate estimates, assess financial loss values, and approve appropriate payments.
• Monitor Direct Repair Shop repairs, timelines, quality, compliance, and related car rental expenses.
• Document and code claim files, create sub-claims, complete closure activities, and refer cases to underwriting, recovery, or special investigation units when needed.
• Support litigation matters, including attorney and budget management, mediation, settlement positions, file reviews, and training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge or experience.
• Adjuster’s license where required by the applicable state.
• Three years of experience or equivalent training in claim settlement negotiation, evidence evaluation, estimates, subrogation, coverage analysis, statements, and claim resolution planning.
• Strong communication, customer service, analytical, negotiation, organization, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, travel outside the assigned territory, and potentially work evenings, weekends, or relocate.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field.
• Insurance Institute of America programs, AIC or CPCU coursework or designation.
• I-CAR ProLevel, CCC, or Xactware training.
• Knowledge of subrogation procedures, intercompany arbitration, litigation, negligence and no-fault law, and collision repair techniques.
