What you will do

  • Oversee first-line credit underwriting, portfolio management, risk monitoring, and credit decisioning across assigned commercial banking businesses.
  • Lead and develop underwriters, portfolio managers, credit specialists, and credit analysts.
  • Maintain portfolio quality, accurate risk ratings, and alignment with the bank’s risk appetite and business objectives.
  • Use portfolio analytics and data-driven insights to identify emerging risks and opportunities and recommend strategy adjustments.
  • Collaborate with sales, risk, technology, legal, and compliance teams to support responsible growth and improve credit processes.
  • Provide credit risk reporting and portfolio analysis to senior leadership while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of first-line credit underwriting, portfolio management, and risk management experience in the financial industry.
  • At least 5 years managing teams of credit analysts and underwriters.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a specialized commercial, capital markets, or corporate banking line of business.
  • Experience with credit bureaus, credit decision engines, underwriting and cash-flow models, income and identity verification, and loss forecasting.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing credit decisions and portfolio management.
  • Undergraduate education in business, economics, or a related field is preferred; a master’s degree or postgraduate equivalent is also preferred.
