Project Engineer Senior or Principal (Power Generation)

Location: Onsite in Columbus, Ohio, United States; requires travel to AEP generation facilities, including occasional overnight trips, and up to 50% travel outside Ohio within the AEP footprint during construction.

Salary: $110,000–$129,000 for Engineer Senior SG8; $116,000–$151,000 for Engineer Principal SG9.

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering activities for new-build and major retrofit generation capital projects.
• Develop and manage engineering work plans and lead engineering design reviews.
• Coordinate design work among AEP teams, developers, architect-engineers, OEMs, EPC contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Respond to requests for information, facilitate engineering meetings, and provide progress updates.
• Support construction and commissioning activities and facilitate project closeout.
• Coordinate technical delivery for gas turbine, solar, wind, battery storage, fuel conversion, and environmental retrofit projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or an accepted equivalent combination of engineering education and an ABET-accredited graduate degree.
• Senior level: typically 4 or more years of related engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 2 years with a master’s degree or PhD.
• Principal level: typically 8 or more years of related engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 6 years with a master’s degree or PhD.
• Mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology background preferred; experience overseeing multidisciplinary engineering work preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration is encouraged for Senior level and preferred for Principal level, with registration in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico accepted subject to the stated conditions.
• Ability to work onsite in Columbus, Ohio and travel within the AEP footprint is required.
