Development Engineer

Location: US, Louisville, Colorado; work is available from an hirify.global US Renewables & Power office or remotely, with up to 10% travel to project locations and partner offices.

Salary: $94,000–$112,625 per year, plus an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Develop preliminary plant designs, site layouts, and single-line diagrams for utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects.
• Select inverters, PV modules, batteries, trackers, and other primary equipment based on site conditions, utility requirements, and project schedules.
• Model solar energy production and battery dispatch using PVsyst, Solar Farmer, and related tools.
• Conduct remote and in-person site evaluations to assess suitability, technical constraints, and constructability.
• Perform technical due diligence on production estimates, site plans, product documentation, and meteorological data.
• Support pricing, value engineering, RFP responses, permit applications, interconnection applications, and design-tool improvements.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or an equivalent technical field; electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in energy system design or consulting.
• Direct design experience with solar PV and battery energy storage systems.
• Proficiency with PVsyst, Solar Farmer, SAM, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, planning, task-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work remotely and travel up to 10% to project locations and partner offices.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree in engineering, EIT or PE qualifications, or NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification.
• Substation or high-voltage design experience.
• Structural, civil, SCADA, or commissioning engineering experience.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience.
• Experience with wind, green hydrogen, hydroelectric, nuclear, or data center technologies.
