TL;DR
Hydraulics Manager (Civil Engineering): Leading and growing a hydraulics practice while delivering hydraulic and hydrologic designs for bridges, culverts, floodplains, drainage, irrigation, and stormwater systems with an accent on technical leadership, staff development, and project delivery. Focus on 1D/2D HEC-RAS and SMS SRH-2D modeling, bridge scour mitigation, FEMA permitting, and solving complex hydraulic and hydrologic challenges.

Location: Boise, Idaho; Idaho Falls, Idaho; or Rexburg, Idaho

What you will do

  • Lead the hydraulics practice as discipline lead, providing technical and operational direction.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop hydraulic engineering staff, including goals, feedback, career development, and training.
  • Coordinate workload, resources, schedules, priorities, staffing needs, and practice growth initiatives.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, delivery, technical quality, and client relationships.
  • Provide technical leadership for 1D and 2D hydraulic and surface water modeling, bridge scour analysis, floodplain studies, drainage, irrigation, and stormwater management.
  • Coordinate with design teams, environmental staff, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies on project design, permitting, and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer registration in Idaho, or the ability to obtain it within six months.
  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience focused on hydraulic modeling and design.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics and hydrology, including runoff calculations, open-channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulic and scour analysis, culvert design, and detention structure/BMP principles.
  • Experience with 1D/2D HEC-RAS, SMS SRH-2D, HY-8, and FEMA floodplain modeling and permitting, including LOMR/CLOMR.
  • Familiarity with HEC-18, HEC-20, and HEC-23.

  • Experience with Aquatic Organism Passage.
