TL;DR
Project Engineer/Manager - Water Resources (Stormwater and Civil Engineering): Planning and designing stormwater and water resources projects, including hydrology, hydraulics, floodplain analyses, detention and water quality BMPs, stream restoration, bridge scour, and water rights, with an accent on technical design and project delivery. Focus on managing engineering projects and teams, developing construction plans and master planning studies, and applying HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, CUHP, EPASWMM, and HY-8.

Location: Denver, Colorado, USA; full-time onsite role

Salary: $85,000–$135,000 per year, depending on experience and expertise.

What you will do

  • Plan and design stormwater and water resources engineering projects.
  • Perform hydrology, hydraulics, floodplain analyses, detention and water quality BMP design, stream restoration, bridge scour, trail design, and water rights work.
  • Develop stormwater management plans and support MS4 compliance projects.
  • Manage project delivery and transition into a broader project management role.
  • Guide construction plan packages, master planning studies, and construction oversight for stormwater installations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Approximately 6–12 years of experience in stormwater engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license in Colorado, or the ability to obtain one upon hire.
  • Experience providing engineering services in Colorado.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing or mentoring engineering staff is valuable for the role’s project management progression.

Nice to have

  • Experience with HEC-RAS, including 1D/2D applications, HEC-HMS, CUHP, EPASWMM, and HY-8.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D and GIS.
  • Experience with FEMA Letters of Map Change and floodplain mapping.
  • Business development and client management experience.
  • Experience managing teams and mentoring less experienced engineers.
