Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: East Syracuse, NY, USA

Salary: USD 100,000–140,000 per year, plus a target 10% profit-sharing bonus.

What you will do

• Lead full-lifecycle mechanical design and analysis for sealed electronics enclosures, vacuum-compatible assemblies, and precision sensor platforms.
• Design and validate products meeting IP67 and up to IP68 ingress protection standards, including gaskets, sealing geometry, and environmental testing.
• Develop thermal control and heat-management strategies for sensitive electronics and sensors in conventional and vacuum environments.
• Perform steady-state and transient FEA simulations using tools such as ANSYS to predict performance before prototyping.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, manufacturing, quality, and systems teams on product architecture, PCB integration, component placement, and power-dissipation constraints.
• Support validation, sustaining engineering, field-failure analysis, component obsolescence management, cost reduction, Agile planning, and design reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with new product design and design for manufacturability.
• Expertise in environmental sealing, IP67/IP68 protection, thermal management, vacuum-compatible design, and low-outgassing materials.
• Experience with FEA simulation, mechanical validation plans, environmental testing, sealing verification, and structural load testing.
