Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR regulations.

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year, with potential stock options and benefits for full-time hires.

Company

hirify.global Space develops in-space transportation vehicles and propulsion systems for orbital transport, constellation deployment, precision reentry, and missions beyond Low Earth Orbit.

What you will do

  • Lead the full-cycle development of avionics hardware from concept through launch.
  • Define system-level requirements and make mechanical design decisions for avionics systems.
  • Perform structural dynamics, thermal, vibration, and environmental analyses using hand calculations and FEA.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly practices, working directly with suppliers on quality and scalability.
  • Collaborate with electrical, propulsion, GNC, and structural engineering teams to develop integrated vehicle solutions.
  • Define build processes and documentation, manage mechanical interfaces, and lead qualification testing, design reviews, and failure investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of mechanical design experience focused on aerospace or high-performance electronics systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, Creo, or SolidWorks, including complex assemblies.
  • Strong knowledge of precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, thermal management, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and mechanical reliability under dynamic loads.
  • Experience owning products from concept through production and field support and communicating technical concepts to engineering, manufacturing, leadership, and external partners.
  • Eligibility to work with U.S. Government space technology subject to ITAR authorization requirements.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Seven years of mechanical design and analysis experience with space-flown hardware.
  • At least four years of GD&T experience and four years of FEA experience with FEMAP, Ansys, or similar tools.
  • Experience with challenging vibration and thermal environments, NX, Teamcenter, startups, or agile development environments.

Culture & Benefits

  • Cross-functional work across avionics, electrical, propulsion, GNC, and structural engineering.
  • Technical leadership opportunities in design reviews, failure investigations, and continuous improvement.
  • Potential long-term incentives in the form of stock options.
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage.
  • Access to a 401(k) retirement plan.

Hiring process

  • Application and resume review.
  • Introductory and technical phone interviews.
  • Onsite interview followed by an offer.
