Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR regulations.
Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year, with potential stock options and benefits for full-time hires.

What you will do
- Lead the full-cycle development of avionics hardware from concept through launch.
- Define system-level requirements and make mechanical design decisions for avionics systems.
- Perform structural dynamics, thermal, vibration, and environmental analyses using hand calculations and FEA.
- Drive design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly practices, working directly with suppliers on quality and scalability.
- Collaborate with electrical, propulsion, GNC, and structural engineering teams to develop integrated vehicle solutions.
- Define build processes and documentation, manage mechanical interfaces, and lead qualification testing, design reviews, and failure investigations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of mechanical design experience focused on aerospace or high-performance electronics systems.
- Advanced proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, Creo, or SolidWorks, including complex assemblies.
- Strong knowledge of precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, thermal management, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and mechanical reliability under dynamic loads.
- Experience owning products from concept through production and field support and communicating technical concepts to engineering, manufacturing, leadership, and external partners.
- Eligibility to work with U.S. Government space technology subject to ITAR authorization requirements.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Seven years of mechanical design and analysis experience with space-flown hardware.
- At least four years of GD&T experience and four years of FEA experience with FEMAP, Ansys, or similar tools.
- Experience with challenging vibration and thermal environments, NX, Teamcenter, startups, or agile development environments.
