Senior Mechanical Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: West Chicago, Illinois, USA; onsite full-time role

Salary: $110,000–$127,000 annually

What you will do

• Test and develop new manufacturing equipment and improve existing equipment and processes.
• Manage facility and manufacturing improvement projects, including designs, budgets, and ROI calculations.
• Support maintenance and manufacturing teams with advanced troubleshooting of equipment, process, mechanical, motion, and hydraulic systems.
• Use continuous improvement and root cause analysis to resolve process problems on the manufacturing floor.
• Ensure products and systems comply with applicable codes and provide project and activity updates.
• Develop documentation and deliver in-house training for new equipment and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 10 years of related industry experience in chemical or process manufacturing.
• Proficiency in creating and reading electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings using AutoCAD.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills for mechanical, motion, and hydraulic systems, with basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of instrumentation devices, programmable controllers, and PLC troubleshooting.
• Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Navisworks.
• Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
• Chemical manufacturing experience.
