Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Defense)

Salary: $100,000–$160,000 per year; bonus: $15,000–$20,000

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical architecture and design of multi-axis gimbal and precision positioner systems.
• Define axis configurations, bearing and drive architectures, mass properties, packaging, and precision structures for stabilized platforms.
• Integrate daylight cameras, infrared sensors, lasers, electronics, and command-and-control electromechanical systems.
• Perform and direct tolerance, structural, modal, thermal, dynamic, shock, and vibration analyses.
• Develop verification and qualification plans, correlate analysis with test data, and resolve anomalies through root cause and closure.
• Release production-ready designs through PLM and ERP systems and support manufacturing, integration, testing, and field improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience, including precision electromechanical assemblies, gimbals, or positioners.
• Experience leading complex hardware from requirements through qualification in aerospace, defense, or another regulated environment.
• Expert proficiency with SolidWorks, including large assemblies, surfacing, and configuration management.
• Strong command of GD&T under ASME Y14.5, tolerance analysis, technical drawings, and precision motion components.
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR (22 CFR 120.62).

Nice to have

• Experience with Arena PLM and M1 ERP.
