Senior Civil Project Manager (Civil Engineering)

Location: San Diego, CA 92101; hybrid work

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead major projects or several moderate-sized civil engineering projects and teams.
• Manage budgets, schedules, resources, client needs, and design work.
• Lead civil design tasks involving roadway, drainage, utilities, grading, earthwork, and public works.
• Develop and review plans, specifications, and estimates for civil projects.
• Oversee project and client-account financial performance and participate in project reviews.
• Supervise engineering teams, coordinate multidisciplinary work, mentor junior engineers, and support business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program.
• At least 15 years of general civil engineering design experience, including roadway, drainage, earthwork, hydrology and hydraulics, and construction plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Experience with field engineering or design support during construction and work across multiple disciplines.
• High proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, plus site grading, utility, drainage, street improvement, public works, and site development design.
• Experience developing and leading design teams, mentoring junior engineers, managing multiple projects, and handling client relations.
• Willingness to travel, strong communication and technical writing skills, and experience with proposals, negotiation, and business development.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and 20+ years of experience, including at least 5 years in project management.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, equivalent qualification, or CLPO authorization.
• Transit, railway, facility, track, traffic, hydrology/hydraulic, MicroStation, SUSMP, WQMP, SWPPP, or Right of Entry permit experience.
• QSD/QSP registration and established relationships with railroad clients.
