Senior Application Developer (Java)

Location: Hybrid in Taylor, Texas; on-site at least two days per week. Remote work must be performed from a Texas residence.

Salary: $109,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, code, test, document, and maintain complex business applications.
• Work across the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, testing, and integration.
• Design application components, data architectures, and integration solutions using messaging and streaming patterns.
• Build, scale, monitor, and troubleshoot high-volume, high-performance data-handling applications.
• Implement deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines, packaging, and operational tooling.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor other team members while collaborating with architects, project managers, business users, and technical teams.

Requirements

• At least five years of job-related experience beyond degree requirements for the senior level.
• Experience with modern LTS Java, including Java 17, 21, or 25.
• Experience with Spring Boot 3.x or 4.x and container-based development.
• Experience with event-based architectures, messaging or streaming, relational database-backed applications, and high-performance data processing.
• DevOps experience with deployment automation, application packaging, and CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.
• Ability to work on-site in Taylor, Texas at least two days per week and perform remote work from a Texas residence.

Nice to have

• Apache Kafka, JMS, or AMQP experience.
• Kubernetes experience with OpenShift or Azure Kubernetes Service, plus Docker Desktop or Docker Compose.
• Experience with Fedora-family operating systems, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
• Strong SQL experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
