Backend Java Developer (IoT)

Salary: $104,100–$173,900 per year; the range applies across U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and test cloud-based applications for machine connectivity and control.
• Develop and maintain applications that manage data consumption and egress within cloud infrastructure.
• Evaluate IoT products, practices, software architectures, and technical solutions.
• Plan and implement improvements to existing architectures and applications.
• Coordinate system development and execution within the engineering team.
• Provide technical direction and counsel to lower-level developers and software engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
• 8 or more years of related experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot or Quarkus, and Contexts and Dependency Injection in Java.
• Experience with a major cloud platform, SQL and NoSQL databases, CI/CD tools, test automation, and DevOps principles.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira.

Nice to have

• Experience with C#, Python, JavaScript, Go, big-data web applications, Azure Data Explorer, Log Analytics, or Kusto Query Language.
• Knowledge of IoT architectures, MQTT, microservices, scalability, cybersecurity, and SecOps principles.
• Experience with automotive or heavy-duty construction and industrial equipment.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a startup-like culture and navigate ambiguous technical challenges.
