Building Maintenance Engineer

Location: Chesapeake, Virginia, United States. This is an on-site role; remote and hybrid options are not available.

What you will do

• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds.
• Inspect and maintain HVAC, plumbing, fire alarm, electrical, lighting, roofing, drainage, and kitchen systems.
• Troubleshoot building systems, respond to emergency situations, and coordinate additional assistance when required.
• Monitor building operations and maintain energy management measures to improve system efficiency and control operating costs.
• Complete maintenance records and direct mechanics, technicians, or outside contractors on assigned projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, trade school training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of building maintenance experience.
• Thorough knowledge of building systems operations, maintenance, and repair, including HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
• Required trade licenses or permits where applicable, such as electrician, refrigeration, boiler, or steam operator credentials.
• Knowledge of energy management systems and basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to perform physical work including climbing ladders and stairs, standing, stooping, and frequently lifting at least 50 pounds.
