Chief Building Engineer

Location: Plano, Texas, United States; 100% in-office with no remote or telecommuting option

What you will do

• Lead building maintenance, repair, and daily engineering operations across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BAS, fire protection, and life-safety systems.
• Monitor energy usage, conduct inspections, maintain equipment documentation, service logs, and compliance records.
• Oversee contractors, vendors, contract compliance, quality control, and tenant improvement projects.
• Prepare capital and operating budgets, manage inventory and purchasing, and support energy-efficiency initiatives.
• Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate engineering staff while implementing performance and development plans.
• Act as the primary point of contact and first responder for building emergencies, including after-hours, weekend, and holiday situations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 10 years of industry-related experience or equivalent certification/trade experience.
• At least 5 years of supervisory, training, mentoring, performance appraisal, and disciplinary experience.
• Advanced knowledge of HVAC, BAS, fire protection, life-safety systems, energy management, CMMS, Microsoft Office, and building operations platforms.
• Required local, state, or national engineering and trade licenses; CFC certification is preferred or must be obtainable if requested.
• Valid authorization to work in the United States is required; employment visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship, is not available. Ability to travel daily to assigned properties and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
