Maintenance Technician

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States; on-site work in commercial buildings

Salary: $25.00–$32.00 per hour

What you will do

• Inspect facilities, perform preventive maintenance checks, and report unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
• Assist with troubleshooting and repairs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, roofing, drainage, kitchen, and building equipment.
• Service pumps, valves, electrical and mechanical components, and hydraulic devices.
• Complete routine repairs involving fixtures, lighting, doors, hardware, and common areas.
• Support fire and life safety systems, including alarms and pumps.
• Document completed work, update maintenance records, and use smart building and automation systems to manage work orders.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 0–2 years of related experience preferred.
• Ability to read work orders, diagrams, and basic schematics.
• Ability to operate tools, test instruments, and diagnostic devices used in mechanical and HVAC trades.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, customer service, attention-to-detail, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and lifts, work at heights and in confined spaces, and work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.

Nice to have

• Technical or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, or another related trade.
