Turnaround Planner (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, United States; onsite plant-based role with field walk-downs, confined-space entry, tower climbing, and emergency response as needed.

What you will do

• Plan daily maintenance, long-term project, shutdown, outage, and turnaround work for rotating, fixed, and mechanical plant assets.
• Develop detailed job plans and work packages covering scope, labor, materials, tools, equipment, contractors, safety requirements, permits, isolations, and execution sequencing.
• Coordinate materials, special tools, lifting devices, rental equipment, contractors, and other resources required for maintenance execution.
• Maintain equipment records, bills of material, task lists, maintenance history, and preventive maintenance programs in WMIS and related systems.
• Support scheduling, field execution, work prioritization, readiness reviews, and post-turnaround lessons-learned activities.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, Production, contractors, and leadership to improve safety, reliability, cost effectiveness, and work execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management with two years of industry experience, or a certified journeyman millwright, fully qualified maintenance technician, or equivalent trade professional with at least five years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Experience planning shutdown, outage, or turnaround work in an industrial, chemical, refinery, fertilizer, power generation, or manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fixed, rotating, and mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, steam turbines, heat exchangers, piping, motors, fans, gearboxes, valves, and safety devices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems such as WMIS or SAP.
• Ability to coordinate labor estimates, contractors, resources, materials, and work sequencing while managing multiple priorities.
• Must be able to climb towers, enter confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and participate in field walk-downs.

Nice to have

• Previous maintenance planning or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of welding principles.
