Medical Assistant, Referral Coordinator (Healthcare)

Location: Mount Sterling, Illinois, United States; onsite at a health center. Monday and Thursday hours from 5:00–7:00 PM are required; the remaining 36 hours are worked flexibly within clinic hours.

Salary: $24.00–$30.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Coordinate referrals from authorizations and documentation through specialist selection, scheduling, communication, and follow-up.
• Address referral barriers, coordinate with specialty offices, communicate next steps, and track referrals through completion.
• Confirm appointments, obtain specialist records and recommendations, update the care team, and coordinate follow-up.
• Interview patients and measure vital signs while maintaining accurate health records.
• Prepare treatment rooms, clean and sterilize instruments, administer medications and injections, perform laboratory tests, and operate EKG and other diagnostic equipment as permitted by state regulations.
• Support front-desk administration, appointment scheduling, follow-up calls, and medical-supply ordering.

Requirements

• National Medical Assisting certification from a hirify.global-approved organization, or a certificate/diploma and transcripts from an accredited Medical Assistant program with a completed and passed hands-on externship; fully online courses are not accepted.
• Current hands-on Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers from AHA, ARC, or an equivalent provider.
• Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
