TL;DR
Legal Corporate Counsel - Regulatory / Corporate Counsel Senior - Regulatory (Regulatory Law): Providing legal advice on ERCOT regulatory, legislative, compliance, and litigation matters with an accent on power-market regulation, PUCT proceedings, and interpretation of ERCOT protocols. Focus on drafting filings and legal memoranda, reviewing protocol revisions, monitoring regulatory developments, and representing ERCOT in administrative and judicial proceedings.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; hybrid with on-site attendance at the Austin office at least two days per week

Salary: $173,000–$238,000 per year

What you will do

  • Provide legal advice on stakeholder committee activities, regulatory proceedings, compliance, and legislative and regulatory risk.
  • Represent hirify.global in proceedings before the Public Utility Commission of Texas and other administrative, legislative, and judicial forums.
  • Review and revise Nodal Protocol Revision Requests, staff comments, impact analyses, and related hirify.global documents.
  • Draft and edit reports, regulatory filings, comments on proposed rules, and legal memoranda.
  • Interpret hirify.global Protocols, Nodal Operating Guides, Planning Guides, and applicable state and federal law.
  • Support audits, compliance activities, Board and committee meetings, public information requests, and litigation matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of Texas in good standing.
  • Corporate Counsel level: at least 2 years of progressively responsible legal experience in administrative or regulatory matters, compliance, or litigation.
  • Senior Corporate Counsel level: at least 5 years of job-related experience beyond degree requirements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong attention to detail, and regulatory or industry experience.
  • On-site presence in the Austin office at least two days per week is required.
