Associate Counsel - Texas

Location: Remote, but must be within commutable distance of one of hirify.global's Texas office locations

Annual salary: $104,550–$162,975

What you will do

• Defend lawsuits filed in Texas courts and handle assigned first-party insurance defense matters.
• Research applicable laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Provide opinions to the Claims Department on liability, damages, and case value.
• Prepare and manage pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.
• Defend assigned matters at trial or dispositive hearings and travel to trials, hearings, depositions, meetings, and conferences as required.

Requirements

• 2–6+ years of related field litigation experience in insurance defense, personal injury, or a similar area.
• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Admission to the Texas Bar and an active license in good standing required.
• Ability to meet and maintain Texas licensing and applicable continuing legal education requirements.
• Strong professional legal writing, organization, prioritization, multitasking, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to learn and apply substantial technical and procedural information.

Nice to have

• Civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
• Professional communication skills in person, by telephone, and in written correspondence or email.
