Payroll Specialist (Workday)

Location: Tempe, Arizona; hybrid schedule with a minimum onsite expectation of three days per week

What you will do

• Prepare and process payroll data for multiple companies across multiple states using Workday Payroll.
• Run daily, weekly, and monthly payroll reports and audit incoming employee data from self-service and onboarding systems.
• Research discrepancies, resolve payroll, timekeeping, and tax-related issues, and respond to help-desk tickets.
• Calculate retroactive pay adjustments and process manual checks when necessary.
• Verify payroll information before transmission and advise team members on complex payroll matters.

Requirements

• 3+ years of payroll experience.
• Moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Basic knowledge of multi-state payroll laws; payroll tax knowledge is desired.
• Experience working across multiple systems in a high-volume environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated customer service ability, including phone support.
• Ability to work autonomously, multitask, and perform effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• One year of Workday Payroll experience.
