Chief Engineer (Commercial Real Estate)

Location: Baltimore, MD, United States; on-site only. Remote and hybrid options are not available.

Salary: $110,000–$120,000 annual

What you will do

• Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, drainage, elevator, security, fire, and life-safety systems.
• Supervise, hire, train, assess, and develop engineering and maintenance staff.
• Review work orders, assign tasks, monitor recurring problems, estimate materials, and maintain inventory.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs and manage energy-efficiency initiatives to control operating costs.
• Ensure building operations comply with applicable codes, government requirements, and company directives.
• Coordinate maintenance downtime with clients and communicate proactively with tenants, property management, and vendors.

Requirements

• Trade school training and at least 10 years of building operations experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 7 years of commercial property building maintenance experience, including supervision.
• Experience with HVAC, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, electrical systems, and building automation.
• Familiarity with Energy Management Systems, Building Management Systems, and fire alarm systems.
• Required trade licenses or permits as applicable, such as a Journeyman or Master Electrician License, refrigeration certification, or high-pressure boiler or steam operator license.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and customer service skills; proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
