Location: Onsite in Fort Collins, Colorado, United States; includes travel for onsite commissioning activities, including international travel to remote locations.

Salary: $89,200–$132,600 USD annually, plus eligibility for short-term and long-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

  • Lead advanced microgrid control system projects from sales handover through system development, commissioning, and ongoing operational support.
  • Plan and execute onsite and remote startup and commissioning activities, including commissioning test plans.
  • Develop energy resource drivers for power meters, protective relays, generators, PV and storage inverters, battery management systems, wind turbines, and weather stations.
  • Develop, test, and deploy control algorithms; conduct functionality testing, troubleshooting, and technical reporting.
  • Provide technical support for active projects and operating microgrid systems, including customer issue triage and resolution.
  • Create studies, specifications, requirements, estimates, electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and equipment layouts while improving project standards and collaborating with engineering, service, commissioning, and sales teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience with power generation.
  • At least 2 years of experience programming industrial controls, PLCs, and HMIs.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport; ability to travel internationally and work around electrical equipment at various voltage levels.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. safely and use common hand tools while performing physical work involving standing, walking, kneeling, ladders, and stairs.

Nice to have

  • Five or more years of experience with three-phase AC power system controls and automation.
  • Experience with synchronizing, paralleling, and load-sharing for reciprocating engines and inverter-based systems, including energy storage.
  • Knowledge of Modbus, DNP3, CAN 2.0A/B, and J1939 CANbus communication protocols.
  • Experience with IEC 61131, Python, REST API, CODESYS, ClearSCADA, and PLC programming.
  • Knowledge of UL 508A, NEC, and NEMA codes and voltage-forming and voltage-following power control applications.
