Senior Controls Engineer

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite five days a week

Salary: $112,704.00–$169,056.00 per year

What you will do

• Design electrical hardware and control systems for gas turbines, power generators, natural gas compressors, and methane emissions reduction systems.
• Produce electrical schematic drawings and PLC control software using ladder logic.
• Test control software with simulation tools and develop an understanding of system operation.
• Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, internal organizations, external customers, and manufacturing.
• Support field personnel during commissioning and installed-equipment activities.
• Participate in Customer Design Review and HAZOP meetings and resolve safety-critical risk assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with electrical equipment design and control software for PLC applications.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines, manage competing priorities, and deliver projects on time with attention to quality.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal and customer-facing coordination.
• Ability to work onsite in San Diego five days per week.

Nice to have

• Direct experience programming PLCs and Windows-based HMI systems.
• Knowledge of turbomachinery electrical loop schematics, P&IDs, and control systems.
