Power Systems Automation Engineer (SCADA)

Location: On-site in Houston, Texas, United States; domestic and international travel of at least 50% required.

Salary: $110,000–$175,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead the planning, design, development, testing, and commissioning of power systems automation projects.
• Design control logic schemes, communication networks, RTU configurations, HMI and server interfaces, and SCADA integrations.
• Work with Project Managers, Technical Leads, Salesforce, customers, and engineers across other disciplines.
• Research SEL and third-party equipment, emerging technologies, and OT network architectures and data flows.
• Define project deliverables, schedules, budgets, and execution plans from design through commissioning.
• Mentor project engineers, review and certify deliverables, and prepare testing, safety, commissioning, and service documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience designing control logic schemes and network configurations.
• Ability to analyze electrical one-line drawings, DC/AC schematics, and bills of materials.
• Experience with industry-standard communication protocols, including IEC 61850, DNP, and Modbus.
• Experience with server/client SCADA applications and HMI application development suites.
• Professional communication skills and willingness to travel at least 50% domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

• Experience with SEL product configurations, IEC 61131 programming, Python, and IT/OT network design or troubleshooting with Wireshark.
• Experience with phase I/O-style project management and substation safety training.
• Work-from-home experience.
