Controls Engineer (PLC)

Location: Onsite 5 days a week in Anoka, Minnesota, United States

Compensation: $76,000–$141,100 per year, with potential eligibility for annual incentives.

What you will do

• Implement, debug, and sustain PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and industrial communication networks for new production test equipment.
• Develop testing processes and align controls architecture with test requirements.
• Support equipment procurement and integration by reviewing specifications, participating in FAT/SAT activities, and collaborating with machine builders.
• Transition new testers into sustained production support in collaboration with production controls engineering.
• Develop data acquisition and logging systems for test results and equipment performance.
• Implement control logic, sequencing, and safety interlocks for helium leak testing and functional testing of complex electro-mechanical systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• Ideally 5 or more years of experience in controls engineering, automation engineering, or production test system development.
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and CAN.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, electro-mechanical systems, capital equipment, and automation hardware.
• Experience implementing or supporting end-of-line test systems in production environments.
• Working knowledge of database systems for test data collection, along with strong troubleshooting and attention-to-detail skills.

• Exposure to helium leak testing.
