TL;DR

Focus on building forecasting tools, performing power-system studies, analyzing simulated and actual operating results, and ensuring compliance with NERC Standards and ERCOT Protocols.

Location: Austin, TX; work location in Taylor, TX.

Salary: $87,000–$120,000 per year, with level based on overall experience.

What you will do

  • Analyze the performance of wind and solar power forecasts.
  • Develop advanced forecasting methodologies, including machine-learning techniques.
  • Analyze grid variability, including fuel availability and emissions limitations.
  • Build system models, tools, and procedures that support monitoring, control, and grid reliability.
  • Perform power-system studies and analyze simulated or actual operating results.
  • Collaborate with hirify.global departments and multifunctional teams to implement system changes and report findings and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Level 2: at least 1 year of experience as a power-system engineer or in a similar role.
  • Level 3: at least 3 years of experience as a power-system engineer or in a similar role.
  • Ability to perform work according to regulatory requirements, hirify.global policies, NERC Standards, hirify.global Protocols, and Market Guides.
  • Ability to work on-site in Taylor, Texas at least 2 days per week and remotely from a Texas residence.

Nice to have

  • Electric utility industry experience.
  • Data analysis, large datasets, and relational database experience.
  • Python or R experience.
  • Wind or solar forecasting, machine learning, or power-flow analysis experience.
  • PE Professional Engineer certification and experience with PowerWorld or PSSE.
