Lead Local Trial Manager (Clinical Trials)

Location: Madrid, Spain; occasional travel with overnight stays may be required.

Salary: €55,400–€87,860 annual base pay.

What you will do

• Manage assigned clinical trials at country level from start-up through database lock and closeout.
• Lead local trial teams, coordinate study activities, and deliver quality data and documentation on time and within budget.
• Support country and site feasibility, site selection, recruitment planning, risk management, and local project planning.
• Coordinate regulatory and ethics approvals, informed consent documentation, safety reporting, audits, inspections, and corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor trial progress, review monitoring reports and invoices, manage study supplies, and escalate issues to study leadership.
• Mentor and train Local Trial Managers, Site Managers, and Clinical Trial Assistants while contributing to process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Nursing, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 6 years of clinical trial management experience, or at least 8 years of combined clinical trial monitoring and management experience.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
• At least 4 years of leadership experience, with strong mentoring, coaching, communication, and team leadership skills.
• In-depth knowledge of drug development, Good Clinical Practice, clinical trial management, therapeutic areas, and local regulatory requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple complex trials in parallel, apply AI tools responsibly, and work in a fast-changing environment.
