Building Engineer

Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States; on-site only. Remote and hybrid options are not available. The role may require extended hours or overtime during priority and emergency situations.

What you will do

• Perform plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, hydraulic, and building maintenance work.
• Maintain and operate heaters, chillers, pumps, fan coil units, cooling towers, controls, valves, motors, and related equipment.
• Complete preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, repairs, equipment alignment, filter changes, and light fixture replacements.
• Repair building elements such as doors, ceilings, hand railings, and floors, including welding, carpentry, and snow removal when necessary.
• Respond to emergencies and customer concerns, inspect buildings and grounds for unsafe conditions, and maintain life-safety and fire systems.
• Document activities, troubleshoot operational issues, and recommend maintenance upgrades or cost-saving improvements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 3 years of building maintenance experience.
• Appropriate trade licenses or permits as required, such as a Journeyman or Master Electrician license or city licenses.
• Thorough understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems; ability to interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use Windows-based software.
• Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, climb ladders and stairs, and lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
