Entry Level Electrical Design Engineer – Switchgear & Generator Control Systems

Location: USA - IL East Peoria Bldg A; office and manufacturing shop environment

Salary: $82,900–$132,600 USD per year, plus eligibility for variable compensation including short-term and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design custom low- and medium-voltage switchgear and generator control solutions based on customer specifications.
• Interpret project documentation, drawings, schematics, and correspondence.
• Create bills of material, AC/DC schematics, component layouts, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, construction drawings, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate component selection and approvals with purchasing, suppliers, programmers, production, testing, and field service.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, UL891, UL1558, UL Medium Voltage, and UL508A.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and testing, establish standard design processes, and perform design reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience creating drawings, models, and assemblies with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro-E, or Eplan.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics and apply National Electric Code and UL requirements.
• Strong communication, organization, planning, problem-solving, analytical, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team across multiple projects.
• Ability to work in an office and manufacturing shop environment, with travel as needed and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Two or more years of relevant power-generation experience.
• Experience with grid interconnect requirements and distributed energy generation or storage, including PV or wind.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, analog circuit design, or magnetic component design and specification.
• Familiarity with third-party certification and testing, such as NRTL and environmental testing.
• Project management experience.
