Switchgear Design Project Engineer (Electrical)

Location: Hybrid position at 200 Twin Oaks Road, Kohler, Wisconsin, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring new or transfer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $83,300–$105,200 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain 2D and 3D CAD drawings for switchgear assemblies, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
• Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design requirements into accurate technical drawings.
• Understand circuit design and electrical component functionality, select project components, and recommend new parts.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, project teams, manufacturing, and production to ensure design accuracy and support implementation.
• Update drawings through engineering changes and revision control, and generate bills of materials and documentation packages.
• Troubleshoot design issues, implement improvements, and ensure drawings follow applicable standards, codes, and company guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of CAD drafting experience, preferably in electrical or switchgear design.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, CREO, Promise, SEE Electrical, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with electrical schematics, control wiring, and power distribution systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Understanding of low- and medium-voltage switchgear is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with panel layout and enclosure design.
• Knowledge of UL, ANSI, IEEE, or NEC standards.
• Familiarity with PLM or document control systems.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
