Operations Engineer Lead

Location: Hybrid in Taylor, Texas; on-site 2–3 days per week or more as needed. Remote work must be performed from a Texas residence.

Salary: $144,000–$198,000 annually; level and final salary depend on overall experience.

What you will do

• Provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for planning and real-time operation of the electric power system.
• Tune and support Energy Management System functions including Load Frequency Control, Resource Limit Calculator, and Generation to be Dispatched.
• Perform system studies and analyze simulated or actual operating results to identify and resolve current or future system issues.
• Monitor generators, intermittent renewable resources, energy storage resources, price-responsive load, and system frequency control performance.
• Quantify ancillary services and develop tools, procedures, and processes that improve system reliability.
• Collaborate with Market Participants and hirify.global departments on Nodal Protocol, Operating Guide, and system changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 8 years of job-related experience beyond degree requirements.
• Power system engineering or similar experience is required for upper-level positions.
• Ability to work on-site in Taylor, Texas at least 2–3 days per week; remote work is limited to a Texas residence.
• Experience in data analysis, large datasets, or relational databases, including Python, SQL, VBA, or MATLAB, is preferred.
• Ability to work according to NERC Standards, hirify.global Protocols, Market Guides, regulatory requirements, and organizational procedures.
