Apprentice Engineer

Location: Houston, TX, United States; on-site only. Remote and hybrid options are not available.

What you will do

• Complete work orders and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen, roofing, drainage, drywall, painting, caulking, and lighting systems.
• Inspect fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing, and other building systems to verify safe and effective operation.
• Maintain equipment according to preventive maintenance programs and support energy management initiatives.
• Respond to emergency situations, coordinating additional assistance when required.
• Work under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, trade school training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least two years of building maintenance experience.
• Thorough knowledge of building systems operation, maintenance, and repair, including HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
• Knowledge of energy management systems, techniques, and operations.
• Basic skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to perform physical work including climbing ladders and stairs, standing, stooping, and frequently lifting at least 50 pounds; shift work, overtime, and on-call duties may be required.

Nice to have

• Universal CFC certification or progress toward CFC certification.
• Local or state mechanical or HVAC license.
• Valid driver's license.
