Planning Engineer Lead

Location: Hybrid in Taylor, Texas; on-site at least 2–3 days per week. Remote work must be performed from a Texas residence.

Expected salary range: $144,000–$198,000 per year.

What you will do

• Provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for planning and operation of the electric power system.
• Design and perform steady-state, dynamic contingency, production cost, transmission planning, and sensitivity studies.
• Develop system models, monitoring and control tools, procedures, and simulation automation solutions.
• Analyze simulated and actual operating results and recommend solutions to current and future system issues.
• Lead projects, audits, cross-functional initiatives, and process improvements while mentoring other engineers and analysts.
• Communicate technical findings and recommendations to management, stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and the hirify.global Board of Directors.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience as a power system engineer in the electric utility industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience with power flow and system simulation tools such as PSSE, VSAT, TSAT, or Powerworld.
• Ability to perform technical and financial analyses for transmission planning and system improvement projects.
• Ability to work in the required hybrid arrangement in Taylor, Texas, with remote work from a Texas residence.

Nice to have

• Large-scale dynamic stability analysis experience using PSSE, TSAT, or Powerworld.
• Experience with PSCAD and evaluating or updating power system dynamic models.
• Python programming experience for simulation automation tools.
• Experience assessing and mitigating sub-synchronous resonance issues.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification and familiarity with NERC reliability standards.
