Transmission Planning Engineer, Senior or Principal (Power Systems)

Salary: $97,000–$156,600 per year, depending on level and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead and perform steady-state and stability modeling and analysis for power transmission systems.
• Develop study scopes supporting long-range transmission system plans and coordinate assumptions with Integrated System Planning departments.
• Communicate study results and planning initiatives through reports, presentations, meetings, and virtual discussions.
• Improve planning procedures and techniques while resolving complex technical and business problems.
• Implement NERC and FERC compliance activities as a subject-matter expert and coordinate with external entities.
• Assign work to engineers, interns, and technicians; mentor less experienced engineers and create training materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Physics from an ABET-accredited curriculum or recognized equivalent; electrical engineering is preferred.
• Senior level: 5+ years of experience with nationally recognized certification or 7+ years without certification.
• Principal level: 9+ years with PE registration or 15+ years without PE registration.
• Experience with multiple transmission analysis tools, including PSSE, TARA, EMS, ASPEN, CAPE, PROMOD, PLEXOS, PowerWorld, or PSCAD.
• EIT/FE and/or PE registration is preferred; a graduate degree in a relevant field is also preferred.
• Work is based in Denver, Colorado, United States.

Nice to have

• Python programming experience.
• Experience conducting transient stability studies and analysis.
• Experience with EMT modeling and studies using PSCAD, ETAP, or similar tools.
