Senior Mechanical Engineer (Electronics Manufacturing)

Location: Syracuse, NY, United States; onsite. Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance. Export-controlled work may be limited to U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents.

Salary: $94,321–$165,875 annually, with a possible annual or quarterly bonus. Alternative shifts may include a shift premium.

What you will do

• Develop new products and modify existing mechanical and electromechanical designs to meet customer and internal requirements.
• Analyze design concepts, review mechanical specifications, document analyses, and make technical recommendations.
• Plan and perform qualification testing for designs, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Evaluate vendor capabilities and material specifications for compliance with customer and internal requirements.
• Collaborate with project, process, and design engineering teams and participate in customer and internal design reviews.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and designers, support hiring and development, and contribute to standards, product improvements, and cost reduction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 6 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Mechanical design experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Experience with 3D modeling and FEA packages; familiarity with thermal, structural, and vibration analysis.
• Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), structured problem solving, experimental design, and data analysis.
• Ability to lead multiple projects, make technical decisions, communicate with customers, and work cross-functionally.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for DoD Secret Clearance are required when clearance is necessary for a project.

Nice to have

• Experience with ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, AutoCAD Inventor, or similar tools.
• Electronic packaging experience.
• Technical supervisory experience.
