Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Advanced Engineering)

Location: Anderson, South Carolina, United States; onsite at the Ryobi Outdoor Products Innovation Center. Travel of approximately 5–10% domestically and internationally is required.

What you will do

• Lead advanced mechanical system design for next-generation outdoor products.
• Own mechanical feasibility, performance validation, and technical risk reduction for advanced engineering projects.
• Develop and evaluate mechanisms, gear systems, structures, and integrated mechanical systems using first-principles analysis, FEA, CFD, and physical testing.
• Build, test, and iterate functional prototypes to validate durability, performance, and manufacturability.
• Translate early concepts into technically mature designs suitable for product development.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Industrial Design, and other cross-functional teams while communicating technical findings and recommendations to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in product advanced engineering, concept maturation, or innovation in consumer products, automotive, or adjacent industries.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD and rapid prototyping, including tools such as SolidWorks or NX.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical design, mechanisms, gear design, structures, engineering materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience building prototypes, developing test plans, and defining acceptance criteria.
• Ability to work autonomously across multiple projects and guide junior engineers through complex mechanical design challenges.

Nice to have

• Advanced engineering degree.
• Experience overseeing consumer product design from concept through completion.
• Experience using Ansys Mechanical, LS-Dyna, Fluent, Discovery, or KISSsoft.
• Experience with vibration and sound measurement equipment.
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems such as motors, microcontrollers, and batteries.
