TL;DR
Senior Network Engineer (airborne command and control networks): Designing, validating, and evaluating network architectures for the Survivable Airborne Operations Center program with an accent on network security, systems engineering, and technical baseline management. Focus on reviewing aircraft network plans, conducting network-level testing and trade studies, and developing resilient cross-domain connectivity solutions for a major defense acquisition program.

Location: Hanscom AFB, Bedford, Massachusetts, United States; in office/on base five days a week

Salary: $165,000–$185,000 per year, depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications.

hirify.global supports the Survivable Airborne Operations Center program, a major defense acquisition program developing and delivering the replacement fleet for the E-4B National Airborne Operations Center.

What you will do

  • Review and evaluate airborne command and control network architecture plans for the SAOC program.
  • Analyze aircraft network plans and architecture from the prime contractor and provide recommendations to government engineering leadership.
  • Validate mission systems from a holistic network architecture perspective and develop validation criteria and procedures.
  • Design and conduct network-level tests to verify subsystem and system performance against approved specifications.
  • Support systems engineering, technical training, acquisition, integration, sustainment, deployment, installation, and operations oversight.
  • Conduct trade studies and proposal analyses covering technical feasibility, compatibility, cost, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule.

Requirements

  • Active Secret U.S. security clearance is required.
  • Engineering degree and at least 15 years of systems/network engineering or weapon systems development experience, including 8 years supporting DoD acquisition contracts; alternatively, 20 years of engineering experience, including 10 years supporting the DoD.
  • Experience with network security across multiple security classification levels.
  • Progressive experience in network engineering development projects, including engineering documentation, design changes, notices, and design audits.
  • Experience supporting government ownership of a program technical baseline.

Nice to have

  • Experience with tactical, operational, or strategic communications networks.
  • Experience with major aircraft development programs.
