People Leader

Location: On-site in San Francisco, with four days spent collaborating in person at the San Francisco office

Salary: $200K–$250K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and own the people strategy across performance management, compensation, employee development, and culture.
• Partner with the CEO and leadership team on organizational design, headcount planning, and talent decisions.
• Evolve HR infrastructure, policies, compliance processes, and benefits programs.
• Design performance management frameworks covering goal-setting, reviews, promotions, and career development.
• Lead compensation strategy, including pay bands, equity grants, and market benchmarking.
• Drive culture, engagement, manager enablement, employee relations, and recruiting process improvements.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience in People or HR roles at high-growth startups, including at least 2 years in leadership.
• Experience scaling people functions at early-stage companies with 50–200 employees.
• Track record designing and implementing performance management, compensation, onboarding, and career frameworks.
• Strategic business-partner mindset with strong coaching skills and sound judgment in sensitive employee matters.
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments.
• Ability to work in person in San Francisco, including four days per week at the office.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, lending, or other regulated industries.
• Background in AI/ML or technical product companies.
• Experience scaling a company through hyper-growth from 50 to 200+ employees.
• Knowledge of multi-state employment compliance.
