Software Engineer (Node.js/TypeScript)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States — hybrid

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 base plus bonus

What you will do

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Build responsive, type-safe frontend interfaces with React and TypeScript.
• Define API contracts and efficient data-fetching patterns using REST or GraphQL.
• Design schemas, migrations, and performance-conscious queries for relational and NoSQL databases.
• Implement authentication and authorization across backend APIs and frontend applications.
• Collaborate with designers and product managers to deliver polished end-to-end user experiences.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional post-college software engineering experience as a full-stack developer.
• Strong professional experience with TypeScript across backend and frontend codebases.
• Production experience with Node.js, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and service-oriented or microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with relational or NoSQL databases, schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
• Experience with authentication, authorization, API design, caching, and frontend or backend performance optimization.
• Ability to deliver features from API and data model design through frontend integration and user experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, component design, Hooks, state management, and asynchronous data handling.
• Knowledge of frontend architecture and modern tooling such as Vite, Webpack, ESLint, and Prettier.
• Familiarity with Material UI, Tailwind CSS, charting libraries, or interactive dashboards.
