Graduate Enrollment Specialist/Advisor

Location: Commerce, Texas, United States. The role requires travel up to 35% within Texas, with potential regional or national travel, and availability for evenings and weekends.

What you will do

• Coordinate graduate recruitment, retention, and advising activities supporting students from inquiry through graduation.
• Represent graduate programs at university, college, Graduate School, and regional recruiting or marketing events.
• Advise graduate students, faculty, and staff on academic progression, registration, policies, and university resources.
• Review student requests for course substitutions and assist with reports on advising trends and student demographics.
• Use Target X, EAB, DegreeWorks, Banner, WebFocus, and Laserfiche to track and advise graduate students.
• Manage social media content and create promotional materials such as flyers while collaborating with faculty and staff to update advising materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of related experience in advising, recruitment, marketing, and/or customer service.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, multitasking, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel up to 35% within Texas and work evenings and weekends when required.
• Ability to lift 25–50 pounds and supervise student workers or graduate assistants.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a discipline offered at the university.
• Prior higher education experience.
• Experience with recruitment and database management.

Hiring process
