TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Data Centers): Directing and executing mechanical design for greenfield and brownfield data centers, hyperscale fit-out packages, campus planning, and feasibility studies with an accent on HVAC systems, Revit documentation, hydronic and airside calculations, and mechanical controls. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, leading project delivery, developing sequences of operations, and mentoring engineers and designers.

Location: Remote in the United States initially, with plans to transition to a hybrid role; listed locations include Atlanta, GA; Clifton Park, NY; Phoenix, AZ; and Seattle, WA. Approximately 10–20% travel to project sites is required.

Salary: $125,000–$350,000 annually, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.

What you will do

  • Direct and execute mechanical design for greenfield and brownfield data centers, hyperscale and enterprise fit-outs, campus planning, conceptual designs, and feasibility studies.
  • Use Autodesk Revit to create detailed design documents, plans, and specifications for permitting and construction.
  • Perform and review airside and hydronic calculations, flow diagrams, HVAC equipment selections, sequences of operations, and mechanical controls specifications.
  • Coordinate mechanical requirements with electrical, telecommunications, fire protection, plumbing, architectural, civil, and structural disciplines.
  • Lead engineers, designers, and modelers across multiple concurrent projects while managing deadlines and quality-control practices.
  • Mentor and train staff and contribute to internal mechanical design standards and expertise.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical focus; relevant two-year or MET degrees with experience may be considered.
  • At least 8 years of HVAC design experience, particularly using Autodesk Revit.
  • Experience developing detailed mechanical calculations and using calculation software.
  • Experience across the construction process from schematic design through construction administration, including submittal and shop drawing review, site observations, existing-condition surveys, and punch lists.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, work independently, coordinate with senior personnel and other disciplines, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Availability for approximately 10–20% travel to project sites.

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Mission-critical design experience and experience with electrical design for large industrial or commercial buildings.
  • Experience leading mechanical design teams and interfacing with clients.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical controls and monitoring systems.
  • Experience with Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
