Mechanical Engineer - Mission Critical (Data Centers)

Location: Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Kansas City, MO; Phoenix, AZ; or Washington, D.C., United States. Four days per week are worked in the office, with flexibility to work elsewhere on Fridays.

Salary: $84,700–$161,200 USD annually, depending on location, experience, and skills.

What you will do

• Design, coordinate, and implement mechanical systems for data centers, laboratories, clean rooms, and other technically complex facilities.
• Develop HVAC and cooling solutions that meet strict reliability and redundancy requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Create and coordinate project documents using Revit.
• Perform mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection calculations, including code research.
• Write and review specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals; conduct site visits and manage project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in an MEP or integrated design firm working on commercial or public projects.
• At least 5 years of design experience related to data centers.
• Proven experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection building systems for complex projects.
• Working knowledge of design and construction processes, interdisciplinary communication, and BIM workflows such as Autodesk Revit MEP.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license.
• LEED Accredited Professional certification and experience with LEED or another green rating system.
• Experience and interest in sustainable building design.
