Director, Mechanical Engineering (Data Centers)

Location: Remote within the United States; Denver, Colorado preferred, with alternate STACK data center locations considered. Approximately 25–33% domestic travel is required. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and pass comprehensive background screening.

Salary: $197,600–$221,300 per year.

What you will do

• Support innovation initiatives, campus master planning, and multi-phase, campus-scale data center construction projects.
• Oversee the preparation and final approval of contract documents created by third-party design consultants.
• Ensure designs are delivered on schedule and within budget while providing mechanical engineering guidance for projects, operations, and existing facilities.
• Develop and maintain equipment specifications and support procurement through submittal reviews, approvals, and factory witness testing.
• Maintain legacy basis-of-design documents and help develop new standards for emerging business needs.
• Identify and implement technologies that improve data center energy and cost efficiency, while maintaining consistent engineering, design, and security practices.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience designing data centers and specifying HVAC equipment for mission-critical facilities for consideration at Director level.
• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Expertise in IT cooling technologies, including air cooling and direct-to-chip liquid cooling.
• Understanding of mechanical cooling system controls.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
• Baseline proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat; Professional Engineer registration in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Mechanical Engineering.
• Candidates with 5–7 years of data center design experience may be considered for a Manager-level position.
