Parent Child Educator (Community Health Educator II)

Location: Community settings around the MelroseWakefield Service Area; varied Monday–Friday shifts with the ability to work 1–2 Saturday shifts per month.

Pay range: $24.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Lead playgroups and early literacy programming for children ages 0–5 and their caregivers.
• Create developmentally appropriate, play-based curricula and facilitate engaging sessions.
• Educate families about child development, positive parenting strategies, and community health topics.
• Connect families with community resources, concrete supports, and external agencies.
• Plan programs with hospital staff, physicians, and community members based on assessed needs.
• Organize health fairs, screenings, outreach activities, and other community events.

Requirements

• Two years of college coursework or an associate’s degree.
• At least one year of related experience working with young children and families.
• Strong teaching, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to different class needs and manage multiple projects within deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, and experience using multiple database tools.
• Ability to stand and walk frequently, lift 10–50 pounds occasionally, demonstrate childbirth techniques, and operate video and computer equipment.
