Senior Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Clifton Park, New York, United States; hybrid working arrangement with approximately 10–20% travel to project sites and meetings.

Base compensation: $125,000–$250,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead fire protection design projects for greenfield and brownfield data centers, hyperscale and enterprise fit-outs, campus planning, conceptual designs, and hydraulic analyses.
• Produce Revit contract documents and schematic designs for fire pumps, standpipes, wet, dry, and preaction sprinkler systems.
• Develop fire alarm architectures, operating sequences, device layouts, and required system interconnections.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, plumbing, architectural, civil, and structural design leads.
• Prepare code memos and variance requests, review RFIs and submittals, and resolve construction issues with contractors.
• Lead, mentor, and train junior engineers and designers while maintaining quality standards and project deadlines.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in facility fire protection design, particularly using Autodesk Revit for drawing development.
• Four-year engineering degree with a fire protection or mechanical focus preferred; a two-year degree with relevant experience will be considered.
• Strong knowledge of US codes and standard fire protection systems.
• Experience across the construction lifecycle, including schematic design, submittal and shop drawing review, field surveys, site observations, punch lists, and construction administration.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools, Procore, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; experience leading design teams and working with clients is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS).
• Experience designing fire protection systems for large industrial and commercial buildings.
